Резюме Тази книга се издава по случай 100-годишнината от установяването на дипломатически отношения между Полша и България. Взаимоотношени ята между нашите две държави, преминали през подобни исторически и политически процеси през XX век, бяха доста близки. Разбира се, не толкова близки колкото
взаимоотношенията с Унгария, но за поляците България не е само спомен от лятна почивка на Черно Море. Нашата култура, както и политика бяха вдъхновение за дейността на българските приятели - примерът на „Солидарност“, модела за споразумение между комунистическата власт и представителите на
опозицията по време на „Кръглата маса“, или опцията „Наш президент, ваш премиер“, приложена при назначаването на висшите държавни постове след 1989 г. Също така, трябва да се припомни, че загубата на Лех Валенса по време на прези дентските избори от ноември 1995 г„ вдъхнови кръговете около Съюза на
Демократическите Сили да обявят провеждането на предварителни избо ри за кандидат за президент от есента на 1996 г. В представения сборник са събрани текстове анализиращи различни аспекти от полско-българското сътрудничество през последния век. Политично-институционалните проблеми са анализирани
в два текста. Яцек Войницки от Варшавския Университет анализира спецификата на прехода в България. До колко промените след 1989 са съвместими с цен тралноевропейския модел, започнат във Варшава и Будапеща, а доколко са израз на различни традиции и вдъхновения. Текста на двама учени от Университета
Мари Кюри Склодовска от Дублин, Марек Жмигродски и Малгожата Подолак чертае рамките на българската
съвременна полити ческа система въз основата на конституцията от 12 юли 1991 г. От гледна точка на съвременната история, частта посветена на сама та българска държава, както и на нашето двустранно (полско-българско) сътрудничество е пълноценна. В този контекст, трябва да се споменат ста тиите на Адам Косески от Хуманистичната Академия в Пултуск и Иск ра Баева от Българската Академия на Науките разглеждащи синтетично политическите взаимоотношения между двете държави през последния век. Валкиевич от Висшето Училище по Селско Стопанство във Варшава описва картината на българския пре ход в по-широк средноевропейски и балкански контекст, който завършва с изненадващи и добре аргументирани изводи. Михаил Неделчев пред ставя неофициалните контакти между българските и полски писатели.
Ярослав Рубаха от Варминско-Мазурския Университет в Олщин припом ня за българската проблематика в полската преса през Първата световна война. Изследванията му са съсредоточени преди всичко върху полския ежедневник „Време“. Също така Лех Ячиновски от Академията по Фи зическо Възпитание припомня
историята на Болницата „Братска помощ“ в Чирпан, която е била важна част от двустранните отношения. Марчин Соколовски, докторант във Варшавския Университет анализира въпроси те свързани с полското и българско председателство в Европейския Съюз във връзка с проблемите стоящи пред Западните Балкани.

Summary The book is published on the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment between Poland and Bulgaria. Relations between our states during the 20th century as well as similar historical and political processes remained fairly close. Not naturally comparable to Polish-Hungarian relations, Bulgaria for Poles is not only a time of vacation on the Black Sea. Our culture or politics was also an inspiration for the Bulgarian friends - the case of “Solidarity”, a model of negotiations between the communist authorities and representatives of the opposition at the “Round Table” or the option Our President Your Prime Minister implemented to fill the most important state offices after 1989. It should be also reminded that the defeat of Lech Wałęsa in the presidential election in November 1995 inspired the Bulgarian Union of Democratic Forces to call for primaries in order to elect the candidate from united opposition in the presidential election in the fall of 1996 . The presented volume consists of several texts, analyzing the various aspects of Polish-Bulgarian cooperation in the last century. The political and systemic issues are the subject of interest in two articles. Jacek Wojnicki from the University of Warsaw considers the specifics of transformation processes in Bulgaria. The article makes an attempt to answer the question to what extent the system transformation after 1989 fit into the Central European model initiated in Warsaw and Budapest, and to what extent they expressed different traditions and inspirations. In their turn, the two scientists
from the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska from Lublin, Marek Żmigrodzki and Małgorzata Podolak, outline the functioning of the political system of the modem Republic of Bulgaria under the Constitution of July 12,1991. An important fragment of the presented analysis refers to the modem history perspective in context of the Bulgarian state itself and our (Polish-Bulgarian) relations. In this context, the articles by Adam Koseski from Pułtusk Academy of Humanities and Iskra Baievej from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences discuss synthetically the last 100 years of political relations between our two countries. It is worth to combine the two studies with each other due to the fact that the first brings Polish perspective while the second analyzes given issue from a Bulgarian perspective. A significant supplement to the above analysis is the text of Mikhail Graev from the Supreme Directorate of State Archives in Sofia focusing on the period of World War II and military cooperation towards 231

The latest period of modem history is strongly presented in two texts of the following authors: Alexander Jordanov recalls the time of his diplomatic and political mission after 1989 in the context of contacts with Poland, while Marzena Czernicka from the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences studies Polish-Bulgarian cooperation after the political breakthrough, symbolized by the year 1989. An interesting article by Wiesław Walkiewicz from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) depicts Bulgarian political changes in a broader context of Central Europe and the Balkans. It includes surprising and well-argued conclusions. Mikhail Nedelczew presents informal contacts between Polish and Bulgarian writers. Jarosław Rubacha from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn studies the Bulgarian themes presented in the Polish press during the First World War. The subject of above mentioned analysis is the opinion-forming Polish daily newspaper „Czas”. In his turn, Lech Jaczynowski from the University of Physical Education reminds his reader the history of the “Brother Help” Hospital in Czirpan, which is an important card of our bilateral relations. University is the use of Twitter by the Polish embassy in Sofia in context of other diplomatic missions of EU countries. In his turn, Tadeusz Czekalski presents the issue of modernization . of the Bulgarian diet in the first half of the 20th century in a very interesting and accessible way. The last article by Małgorzata Ickiewicz-Sawicka from the Białystok University of Technology examines the issues of Bulgarian UNESCO objects. Such a broad presentation of the last hundred years of mutual political, social, cultural and economic relations between Poland and Bulgaria causes that a significant gap in Polish historiography has been filled. We have received an insightful, detailed work written in a dynamic and accessible language. Summary The book is published on the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment between Poland and Bulgaria. Relations between our states during the 20th century as well as similar historical and political processes remained fairly close. Not naturally comparable to Polish-Hungarian relations, Bulgaria for Poles is not only a time of vacation on the Black Sea. Our culture or politics was also an inspiration for the Bulgarian friends - the case of “Solidarity”, a model of negotiations between the communist authorities and representatives of the opposition at the “Round Table” or the option Our President Your Prime Minister implemented to fill the most important state offices after 1989. It should be also reminded that the defeat of Lech Wałęsa in the presidential election in November 1995 inspired the Bulgarian Union of Democratic Forces to call for primaries in order to elect the candidate from united opposition in the presidential election in the fall of 1996 . The presented volume consists of several texts, analyzing the various aspects of Polish-Bulgarian cooperation in the last century. The political and systemic issues are the subject of interest in two articles. Jacek Wojnicki from the University of Warsaw considers the specifics of transformation processes in Bulgaria. The article makes an attempt to answer the question to what extent the system transformation after 1989 fit into the Central European model initiated in Warsaw and Budapest, and to what extent they expressed different traditions and inspirations. In their turn, the two scientists
from the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska from Lublin, Marek Żmigrodzki and Małgorzata Podolak, outline the functioning of the political system of the modem Republic of Bulgaria under the Constitution of July 12,1991. An important fragment of the presented analysis refers to the modem history perspective in context of the Bulgarian state itself and our (Polish-Bulgarian) relations. In this context, the articles by Adam Koseski from Pułtusk Academy of Humanities and Iskra Baievej from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences discuss synthetically the last 100 years of political relations between our two countries. It is worth to combine the two studies with each other due to the fact that the first brings Polish perspective while the second analyzes given issue from a Bulgarian perspective. A significant supplement to the above analysis is the text of Mikhail Graev from the Supreme Directorate of State Archives in Sofia focusing on the period of World War II and military cooperation towards 231

An interesting article by Wiesław Walkiewicz from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) depicts Bulgarian political changes in a broader context of Central Europe and the Balkans. It includes surprising and well-argued conclusions. Mikhail Nedelczew presents informal contacts between Polish and Bulgarian writers. Jarosław Rubacha from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn studies the Bulgarian themes presented in the Polish press during the First World War. The last article by Małgorzata Ickiewicz-Sawicka from the Białystok University of Technology examines the issues of Bulgarian UNESCO objects. Such a broad presentation of the last hundred years of mutual political, social, cultural and economic relations between Poland and Bulgaria causes that a significant gap in Polish historiography has been filled.
