Zusammenfassung: | Pandemics are large-scale epidemics that spread throughout the world. Virologists predict that the next pandemic could occur in the coming years, probably from some form of influenza, with potentially devastating consequences. Vaccinations, if available, and behavioral methods are vital for stemming the spread of infection. However, remarkably little attention has been devoted to the psychological factors that influence the spread of pandemic infection and the associated emotional distress and social disruption. Psychological factors are important for many reasons. They play a role in nonadherence to vaccination and hygiene programs, and play an important role in how people cope with the threat of infection and associated losses. Psychological factors are important for understanding and managing societal problems associated with pandemics, such as the spreading of excessive fear, stigmatization, and xenophobia that occur when people are threatened with infection. This book offers the first comprehensive analysis of the psychology of pandemics. It describes the psychological reactions to pandemics, including maladaptive behaviors, emotions, and defensive reactions, and reviews the psychological vulnerability factors that contribute to the spreading of disease and distress. It also considers empirically supported methods for addressing these problems, and outlines the implications for public health planning |

It also considers empirically supported methods for addressing these problems, and outlines the implications for public health planning Stigmatisierung (DE-588)4057561-5 gnd rswk-swf Infektionskrankheit (DE-588)4026879-2 gnd rswk-swf Krisenintervention (DE-588)4033206-8 gnd rswk-swf Gesundheitsverhalten (DE-588)4020774-2 gnd rswk-swf COVID-19 (DE-588)1206347392 gnd rswk-swf Kollektive Angst (DE-588)4164675-7 gnd rswk-swf Fremdenfeindlichkeit (DE-588)4244141-9 gnd rswk-swf Psychosoziale Situation (DE-588)4176265-4 gnd rswk-swf Massenpsychologie (DE-588)4037879-2 gnd rswk-swf Stressbewältigung (DE-588)4202646-5 gnd rswk-swf Psychologie (DE-588)4047704-6 gnd rswk-swf Psychosoziale Belastung (DE-588)4140199-2 gnd rswk-swf Pandemie (DE-588)4737034-8 gnd rswk-swf Epidemics / Psychological aspects Epidemics / Social aspects Electronic books Pandemie (DE-588)4737034-8 s Infektionskrankheit (DE-588)4026879-2 s Massenpsychologie (DE-588)4037879-2 s Psychosoziale Situation (DE-588)4176265-4 s Gesundheitsverhalten (DE-588)4020774-2 s Kollektive Angst (DE-588)4164675-7 s Fremdenfeindlichkeit (DE-588)4244141-9 s Stigmatisierung (DE-588)4057561-5 s 1\p DE-604 COVID-19 (DE-588)1206347392 s Psychosoziale Belastung (DE-588)4140199-2 s Krisenintervention (DE-588)4033206-8 s Stressbewältigung (DE-588)4202646-5 s 2\p DE-604 Psychologie (DE-588)4047704-6 s 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-1-5275-3959-4 https://public.ebookcentral.proquest.com/choice/publicfullrecord.aspx?p=5940200 ProQuest Ebook Central http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=2270856 EBSCOhost http://www.vlebooks.com/vleweb/product/openreader?id=none&isbn=9781527541184 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
