Zusammenfassung: | "This book shows how forgiveness oriented Emotion Focused Therapy helps individuals and couples process and transform distressing negative emotions by accessing internal resources of strength and self compassion. Step by step guides to the therapy models, along with analyses of extensive clinical case material, show readers how to promote clients' ownership of their emotional experience; empower them to appropriately assign responsibility for harm done; and help them discover their own resilience to recover from the emotional injury"-- "This book presents a therapeutic approach to interpersonal forgiveness, in emotion-focused therapy (EFT), that addresses interpersonal EIs. It is for practitioners of all types who work with people who have been emotionally injured. Specifically, it is for therapists and counselors who work directly in helping people resolve EIs. It is intended both for graduate students just starting out and experienced therapists and all practitioners in between, regardless of prior experience with EFT. Among other features, the book contains many details and examples of how to incorporate forgiveness into an empty-chair dialogue technique. Throughout the book, the authors provide empirical support for the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy (EFT) for resolving EIs in both individual and couples therapy. It describes the processes involved in change and reported on people's subjective reports of their experience of forgiving. One important note about the process of forgiving that emerges is that people have to deal with their anger as a necessary step along the path to resolution because unexpressed anger is a major cause of grudges. The book discusses the role of the specific emotions of sadness, anger, and shame involved in resolving EIs. The authors propose that people need, in the safety of the therapeutic situation, to express what is bothering them and express both their hurt and their constructive anger. EFT thus helps people face and deal with these feelings rather than distancing and burying them to fester unresolved."--Preface. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved) |
