Zusammenfassung: | "When it comes to the history of race, it is not obvious where Russia fits in. Some have made the case that race has had little effect on how people were treated in Russia and the Soviet Union. Others, in contrast, have insisted that Russia was no less racist than its European neighbors and their overseas colonies. Race in Russia, it seems, is either irrelevant, or lurking underneath a thin veneer of "friendship-of-peoples" propaganda. This paradox has made it difficult to understand--both inside and outside of the region--rising racial tension in Russian and Eurasian societies in recent years. Ideologies of Race: Imperial Russia and the Soviet Union in Global Context is a collection of new studies that help to make sense of the paradox. Bringing together historians, literary scholars and anthropologist of Russia, the Soviet Union, Western Europe, the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America, Ideologies of Race shifts the question from whether Russia and the Soviet Union had race or racism like the "classic" racialized regimes (usually Nazi Germany and the United States), to how race worked in Russia and the Soviet Union at various points. It approaches race as ideology, an approach that illuminates the complicated and sometimes contradictory intersection between ideas about race and racializing practices. Examining the ideologies of race in Russia and the Soviet Union yields crucial insights on the global history of race, and the ongoing effects of that history on the contemporary world."-- |

Examining the ideologies of race in Russia and the Soviet Union yields crucial insights on the global history of race, and the ongoing effects of that history on the contemporary world."--</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="648" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Geschichte 1800-2000</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Rasse</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4048440-3</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Rassismus</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4076527-1</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Sowjetunion</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4077548-3</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Russland</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4076899-5</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Russia / Race relations</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Soviet Union / Race relations</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Minorities / Russia / Social conditions</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Minorities / Soviet Union / Social conditions</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Minorities / Social conditions</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Race relations</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Russia (Federation)</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="653" ind1=" " ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Soviet Union</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="655" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4143413-4</subfield><subfield code="a">Aufsatzsammlung</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd-content</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Russland</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4076899-5</subfield><subfield code="D">g</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Sowjetunion</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4077548-3</subfield><subfield code="D">g</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Rassismus</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4076527-1</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="3"><subfield code="a">Rasse</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4048440-3</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Geschichte 1800-2000</subfield><subfield code="A">z</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="700" ind1="1" ind2=" "><subfield code="a">Rainbow, David</subfield><subfield code="d">1979-</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)120414267X</subfield><subfield code="4">edt</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Erscheint auch als</subfield><subfield code="n">Online-Ausgabe, PDF</subfield><subfield code="z">978-0-2280-0036-5</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Erscheint auch als</subfield><subfield code="n">Online-Ausgabe, EPUB</subfield><subfield code="z">978-0-2280-0037-2</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="m">Digitalisierung BSB München - Bringing together historians, literary scholars and anthropologist of Russia, the Soviet Union, Western Europe, the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America, Ideologies of Race shifts the question from whether Russia and the Soviet Union had race or racism like the "classic" racialized regimes (usually Nazi Germany and the United States), to how race worked in Russia and the Soviet Union at various points. It approaches race as ideology, an approach that illuminates the complicated and sometimes contradictory intersection between ideas about race and racializing practices. Examining the ideologies of race in Russia and the Soviet Union yields crucial insights on the global history of race, and the ongoing effects of that history on the contemporary world."-- Geschichte 1800-2000 gnd rswk-swf Rasse (DE-588)4048440-3 gnd rswk-swf Rassismus (DE-588)4076527-1 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 gnd rswk-swf Russland (DE-588)4076899-5 gnd rswk-swf Russia / Race relations Soviet Union / Race relations Minorities / Russia / Social conditions Minorities / Soviet Union / Social conditions Minorities / Social conditions Race relations Russia (Federation) Soviet Union (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Russland (DE-588)4076899-5 g Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 g Rassismus (DE-588)4076527-1 s Rasse (DE-588)4048440-3 s Geschichte 1800-2000 z DE-604 Rainbow, David 1979- (DE-588)120414267X edt Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, PDF 978-0-2280-0036-5 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, EPUB 978-0-2280-0037-2 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=031628446&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=031628446&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Register // Gemischte Register |
