Zusammenfassung: | This volume brings together a variety of historians, epigraphists, philologists, art historians and archaeologists to address the understanding of the encounter between Buddhist and Muslim communities in South and Central Asia during the medieval period. The articles collected here provoke a fresh look at the relevant sources. The main areas touched by this new research can be divided into five broad categories: deconstructing scholarship on Buddhist/Muslim interactions, cultural and religious exchanges, perceptions of the other, transmission of knowledge, and trade and economics. The subjects covered are wide ranging and demonstrate the vast challenges involved in dealing with historical, social, cultural and economic frameworks that span Central and South Asia of the premodern world. We hope that the results show promise for future research produced on Buddhist and Muslim encounters. The intended audience is specialists in Asian Studies, Buddhist Studies and Islamic Studies |

Sep 2019) This volume brings together a variety of historians, epigraphists, philologists, art historians and archaeologists to address the understanding of the encounter between Buddhist and Muslim communities in South and Central Asia during the medieval period. The intended audience is specialists in Asian Studies, Buddhist Studies and Islamic Studies In English Geschichte 750-1500 gnd rswk-swf Musk Routes Premodern Buddhism Spread of Islam Sufi Islam HISTORY / Asia / India & South Asia bisacsh Kulturkontakt (DE-588)4033569-0 gnd rswk-swf Buddhismus (DE-588)4008690-2 gnd rswk-swf Interreligiöser Dialog (DE-588)4192352-2 gnd rswk-swf Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 gnd rswk-swf Wirtschaft (DE-588)4066399-1 gnd rswk-swf Zentralasien (DE-588)4079487-8 gnd rswk-swf Südasien (DE-588)4058406-9 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift 2015 Lausanne gnd-content Südasien (DE-588)4058406-9 g Zentralasien (DE-588)4079487-8 g Buddhismus (DE-588)4008690-2 s Islam (DE-588)4027743-4 s Interreligiöser Dialog (DE-588)4192352-2 s Kulturkontakt (DE-588)4033569-0 s Wirtschaft (DE-588)4066399-1 s Geschichte 750-1500 z 2\p DE-604 Auer, Blain edt Strauch, Ingo edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9783110629163 https://doi.org/10.1515/9783110631685 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
