Zusammenfassung: | Ceramics and the Museum? interrogates the relationship between artoriented ceramic practice and museum practice in Britain since 1970. Laura Breen examines the identity of ceramics as an art form, drawing on examples of work by artist-makers such as Edmund de Waal and Grayson Perry; addresses the impact of policy making on ceramic practice; traces the shift from object to project in ceramic practice, and the evolution of ceramic sculpture; explores how museums facilitated multisensory engagement with ceramic material and process, and analyses the exhibition as a text in itself. Proposing the notion that ?gestures of showing,? such as exhibitions and installation art, can be read as statements, she examines what they tell us about the identity of ceramics at particular moments in time. Highlighting the ways in which these gestures have constructed ceramics as a category of artistic practice, Breen argues that they reveal gaps between narrative and practice, which can be used to deconstruct it too |

Ceramics and the Museum? interrogates the relationship between artoriented ceramic practice and museum practice in Britain since 1970. Highlighting the ways in which these gestures have constructed ceramics as a category of artistic practice, Breen argues that they reveal gaps between narrative and practice, which can be used to deconstruct it too Geschichte 1970-2019 gnd rswk-swf Ausstellung (DE-588)4129601-1 gnd rswk-swf Sammeln (DE-588)4051494-8 gnd rswk-swf Präsentation (DE-588)4135231-2 gnd rswk-swf Museum (DE-588)4040795-0 gnd rswk-swf Keramik (DE-588)4030270-2 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 gnd rswk-swf Artists and museums Pottery / Social aspects Museums / Social aspects Art and society / History Art pottery / Great Britain / 20th century Art pottery / Great Britain / 21st century Art pottery / 20th century / Collectors and collecting / Great Britain Art pottery / 21st century / Collectors and collecting / Great Britain Art museums / Collection management / Great Britain Ceramics / Bgreat Britain / Exhibitions Art museums ; Collection management Art pottery Art pottery ; Collectors and collecting Great Britain Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 g Keramik (DE-588)4030270-2 s Sammeln (DE-588)4051494-8 s Museum (DE-588)4040795-0 s Ausstellung (DE-588)4129601-1 s Präsentation (DE-588)4135231-2 s Geschichte 1970-2019 z DE-604 9781350047853 ePub ebook 9781350047860 PDF ebook 9781350047860 SWB Datenaustausch application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=031530284&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
