Ali Vishko Prof. Dr. Ali Vishko THE HARABATI TEQE OF TETOVA AND IT S ACTIVITY DURING THE PAST PERIOD (Summary) During the 15th and the 16th century the Ottoman Empire reached the highest levels of development in many spheres of life, especially in science, arts, literature, construction industry and so on. At that time a large number of great creative thinkers lived and among them to such distinguished personalities lived in Tetova, which had been Muid of Tetova who lived in the 15th century and the high cleric Sersem Ali Dede, a vezir (minister), who was also a theologian, poet, philosopher and founder of the Harabati Teqe in Tetova. Sersem Ali Dede settled in the area of Pollog as a missionary of Islamic Bektashian order in the first half of the 16th c. and he set up the Harabati Teqe in Tetova between the years 1538-1548. “Teqe” is the name of complex religious institution which was mainly used as a place forworship by the Islamic orden of Bektashian. This “Teqe” used to be a well-know seat of the Islamic Bektashian order for the western part of the Ballkans. Besides playing a distinguished role in Islamic culture, it became also the geniune and well-know center of Albanian culture in this region and wider in the area during the past centuries. Harabati teqe e Tetovēs dhe veprimtaria e saj, në periudhën e kaluar of this “Teqe” such as Sersem Ali Dede, Turabi, one unknown poet-Anonime, Muhamed Mehdi Baba, Mehmet Aqif and others with their work into the field of theology, culture and education made a significant contribution to and left an indelibile imprint on the Albanian an Islamic as well as their peoples culture of these lands and the western regions of the Ballkans, in the whole. The founder of Harabati Teqe Sersem Ali Dede and their creators of this “Teqe” created in many spheres of knowledge, especially in science, literature, philosphy, theology and so on. In literary of poets of the Harabati Teqe heritage there is brilliant lyrical poetry characterized by misticism where the divine and natural beauty are interwoven. This is a specifik pozitive mysticism where they speaks abort a generous heart, divine love, the dawn or the renewal of life and world. The literary, philosophical and religious Works of the authors who lived and created in Tetova such as Muidi in Tetova, Sersem Ali Dede, the dervish Turabi-u, Muhamed Mehdi Baba, the Anonime poet, Mehmet Aqif and others and the Harabati Teqe with the role it played in the past period together with it s magnificent architecture are the pearls of the islamic and Albanian cultural heritage and of the humanity on the whole. 94
