Summary:Casanova Sorolla, an artist originally from Peru but now based in Vienna, has adopted the position of an 'invisible' choreographer in his works in recent years. Music and dance are essential components of his works, which develop horizontally on the ground or as part of staged performances. Casanova Sorolla dusts dancers with color pigments and invites them to dance on widths of paper. Wherever their bodies touch the floor, colored footprints and traces are transferred to the paper. Aspects like rhythm, tempo, intensity and gestures play an important role, and through chance or the improvisations of the protagonists, the visual results evade the artist's control. Here he makes use of folkloric, classical and modern, popular forms of dance. From the complex traces on the surface of the paper, abstract, fragile compositions develop in which a palpable dynamism is inherent. Sorolla's works can be characterized as notations or visible 'choreographies' in which dynamic processes are written into a static image
