Zusammenfassung: | Women and Gender in the Military compares the integration of women; gender perspectives; and the women, peace, and security agenda into the armed forces of eight countries plus NATO and United Nations peacekeeping operations. This book brings a much needed cross-national analysis of how militaries have or have not improved gender balance, what has worked and what has not, and who have been the agents for change. The country cases examined are Sweden, the Netherlands, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Australia, and South Africa. Despite increased opportunities for women in the militaries of many countries and wider recognition of the value of including gender perspectives to enhance operational effectiveness, progress has encountered roadblocks even nearly twenty years after United Nations's Security Council Resolution 1325 kicked off the women, peace, and security agenda. Robert Egnell, Mayesha Alam, and the contributors to this volume conclude that there is no single model for change that can be applied to every country, but the comparative findings reveal many policy-relevant lessons as well as advance scholarship about women and gendered perspectives in the military |

Robert Egnell, Mayesha Alam, and the contributors to this volume conclude that there is no single model for change that can be applied to every country, but the comparative findings reveal many policy-relevant lessons as well as advance scholarship about women and gendered perspectives in the military NATO (DE-588)132116928 gnd rswk-swf Vereinte Nationen Friedensmission (DE-588)4437414-8 gnd rswk-swf Geschlechterverhältnis (DE-588)4020548-4 gnd rswk-swf Internationaler Vergleich (DE-588)4120509-1 gnd rswk-swf Soldatin (DE-588)4181751-5 gnd rswk-swf Gleichstellung (DE-588)4157525-8 gnd rswk-swf Militär (DE-588)4039305-7 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Australien (DE-588)4003900-6 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 gnd rswk-swf Israel (DE-588)4027808-6 gnd rswk-swf Südafrika (DE-588)4078012-0 gnd rswk-swf Schweden (DE-588)4077258-5 gnd rswk-swf Kanada (DE-588)4029456-0 gnd rswk-swf Niederlande (DE-588)4042203-3 gnd rswk-swf Women and the military Women soldiers Armed Forces / Social aspects Sociology, Military (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Soldatin (DE-588)4181751-5 s Militär (DE-588)4039305-7 s Geschlechterverhältnis (DE-588)4020548-4 s Gleichstellung (DE-588)4157525-8 s Internationaler Vergleich (DE-588)4120509-1 s DE-604 Schweden (DE-588)4077258-5 g Niederlande (DE-588)4042203-3 g Kanada (DE-588)4029456-0 g USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 g Israel (DE-588)4027808-6 g Australien (DE-588)4003900-6 g Südafrika (DE-588)4078012-0 g NATO (DE-588)132116928 p Vereinte Nationen Friedensmission (DE-588)4437414-8 b Egnell, Robert (DE-588)138595100 edt Alam, Mayesha 1988- (DE-588)108984364X edt Verveer, Melanne (DE-588)1123668159 wpr Online version Women and gender in the military Washington, D.C. : Georgetown University Press, 2019 9781626166271 https://content.ub.hu-berlin.de/monographs/toc/ethnologie/BV045438403.pdf Inhaltsverzeichnis |
