The work included research into the existing usage of the Silk Road identity, connections between key destinations through tangible and intangible heritage, and the potential of a Western Silk Road tourism brand. Untold Silk Road stories: Armenia, Bulgaria. Greece. Italy, Spain, Turkey, Vikings and the Russian Federation and the Silk Road. Concepts were developed to strengthen the use of such a brand to bring benefits to destinations and two capacity building workshops were held on how to progress from theory to practice in developing the Western Silk Road as a transnational tourism route. This roadmap aims to present a common tourism development plan for the route." |
