"The Niger Delta is a region suffering from administrative neglect, crumbling social infrastructure and services, high unemployment, social deprivation, abject poverty, filth and squalor, and endemic conflict," United Nations Development Programme, (UNDP's Report 2006) A problem needs to be identified before one talks of solving it. One cannot talk of building peace, happiness and harmony on injustice. Until the problem in the Niger Delta is solved and the gross injustice is addressed, there may not be peace. Sir (Dr) Peter O. Odili This book by Monsignor John K. Wangbu may not present the final solution to the cries and the crisis of the Niger Delta; but it is a huge contribution towards analytically drawing further attention to the plight of the people and putting in perspectives what could have been done several decades ago to ensure that the Niger Delta recovers from age-long environmental abuseand human injustice. 'Timi Alaibe The Author John K. Wangbu, a Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is a native of Ubima (Kelga) in the South-South. He was a Senior Lecturer and Second Vice Rector in St. Joseph Major Seminary, lkot Ekpene, Nigeria. He is a peerless teacher of the Catholic teaching on good governance before he was appointed the Sole Administrator, Rivers State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board from November 2007-2014, having served in that capacity before as its Chairman from 1994-1997. He is the author of Pilgrimage Companion, Culture of Collaboration and Laity in Nigeria: Post Vatican 11 experience, a nd ed itor of Niger Delta: Rich Region
Poor People. He holds the title of a Monsignor as a papal Chamberlin. He is a memberof the Editorial Board of the Koinonia Journal, a Justice of Peace (JP) and United Nations (UN) Ambassador for Peace. He received his PhD degree from the prestigious Duquesne University, Pennsylvania, USA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
