Zusammenfassung: | Violeta Parra was an extraordinary figure. She is best known for her contribution to the Latin American New Song movement and for her visual art, which was exhibited in the Musee des Arts Decoratifs of the Louvre gallery in 1964. Parra spent her early career singing Mexican songs in bars and researching traditional Chilean culture. All the different phases of Parra's life and work are discussed in this book, with analyses of her music, paintings, sculptures, embroideries (arpilleras), and poetry. Her exhibition in the Louvre gallery and the music venue that she set up before she died, La Carpa de la Reina, are also covered. Among the individual essays collected here are seminal works by Patricio Manns and Leonidas Morales, which have been translated into English for the first time. These works introduce the historical and biographical context for Parra's work. Other essays feature the latest research and findings by Catherine Boyle, Ericka Verba, Paula Miranda, Serda Yalkin, Romina A. Green, and Lorna Dillon. The book also includes an interview with Violeta Parra's brother, the influential poet Nicanor Parra and a Foreword by Marjorie Agosin |

The book also includes an interview with Violeta Parra's brother, the influential poet Nicanor Parra and a Foreword by Marjorie Agosin Parra, Violeta / 1917-1967 / fast / (OCoLC)fst00039039 Parra, Violeta 1917-1967 Criticism and interpretation Parra, Violeta Parra, Violeta 1917-1967 (DE-588)118789732 gnd rswk-swf 1900-1999 / fast Geschichte 1917-1967 gnd rswk-swf Criticism, interpretation, etc / fast / (OCoLC)fst01411635 Art, Chilean / fast / (OCoLC)fst00816101 Art, Latin American / fast / (OCoLC)fst00816534 Popular music / fast / (OCoLC)fst01071422 Women artists / fast / (OCoLC)fst01177159 Popular music Chile 1951-1960 History and criticism Art, Chilean 20th century Art, Latin American 20th century Women artists Latin America Art, Chilean Art, Latin American Popular music Women artists Neues chilenisches Lied (DE-588)4727316-1 gnd rswk-swf Sängerin (DE-588)4051246-0 gnd rswk-swf Chile / fast / (OCoLC)fst01205362 Latin America / fast / (OCoLC)fst01245945 Chile Latin America Chile (DE-588)4009929-5 gnd rswk-swf 1900-1999 fast 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Chile (DE-588)4009929-5 g Sängerin (DE-588)4051246-0 s Neues chilenisches Lied (DE-588)4727316-1 s Geschichte 1917-1967 z 2\p DE-604 Parra, Violeta 1917-1967 (DE-588)118789732 p 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-1-85566-321-3 https://doi.org/10.1017/9781787440715 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
