| Zusammenfassung: | The work of Pierre Coulibeuf is characterised by a specific concern for places - the places where his films are shot the places where his installations are shown. In his creative process, the films are always based on an actual place or architecture. When he designs his installations, the exhibition context is always taken into account, to the point where it becomes an integral part of the work, like a public work of art. For this reason, the 'installation' is always a work in the making, the exhibition context modifying the piece each time - and thus the spectator's perception. Moreover, Coulibeuf's work is essentially interdisciplinary: several artistic fields are involved in the creation process of each one of his works. The 'Fiction' exhibition at the Palais Jacques Cur, in Bourges, is concerned with the notion of place and the work's relationship with historic monuments. How does a work express itself in a particular place and conversely, how does a place express itself thanks to a work, in contrast to the principle of traditional exhibitions. The exhibition puts forward the notion of the 'genius of the site'. The artists and architects who inspired or modelled the Palais Jacques Cur, but also those who have lived in it, make this an 'active' place that enters into a dialogue with the artist's creations.
