Zusammenfassung: | The subject of rainfall-runoff modeling involves a wide spectrum of topics. Fundamental to each topic is the problem of accurately computing runoff at a point given rainfall data at another point. The fact that there is currently no one universally accepted approach to computing runoff, given rainfall data, indicates that a purely deter ministic solution to the problem has not yet been found. The technology employed in the modern rainfall-runoff models has evolved substantially over the last two decades, with computer models becoming increasingly more complex in their detail of describing the hydrologic and hydraulic processes which occur in the catchment. But despite the advances in including this additional detail, the level of error in runoff estimates (given rainfall) does not seem to be significantly changed with increasing model complexity; in fact it is not uncommon for the model's level of accuracy to deteriorate with increasing complexity. In a latter section of this chapter, a literature review of the state-of-the-art in rainfall-runoff modeling is compiled which includes many of the concerns noted by rainfall-runoff modelers. The review indicates that there is still no deterministic solution to the rainfall-runoff modeling problem, and that the error in runoff estimates produced from rainfall-runoff models is of such magnitude that they should not be simply ignored |

Whitley Berlin, Heidelberg Springer Berlin Heidelberg 1989 1 Online-Ressource (XVIII, 384 p) txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier The subject of rainfall-runoff modeling involves a wide spectrum of topics. The review indicates that there is still no deterministic solution to the rainfall-runoff modeling problem, and that the error in runoff estimates produced from rainfall-runoff models is of such magnitude that they should not be simply ignored Engineering Appl.Mathematics/Computational Methods of Engineering Geotechnical Engineering & Applied Earth Sciences Geoengineering, Foundations, Hydraulics Waste Management/Waste Technology Waste Water Technology / Water Pollution Control / Water Management / Aquatic Pollution Atmospheric Protection/Air Quality Control/Air Pollution Geotechnical engineering Applied mathematics Engineering mathematics Engineering geology Engineering / Geology Foundations Hydraulics Waste management Air pollution Water pollution Abflussmessung (DE-588)4141034-8 gnd rswk-swf Modell (DE-588)4039798-1 gnd rswk-swf Integralgleichung (DE-588)4027229-1 gnd rswk-swf Regenwasser (DE-588)4049003-8 gnd rswk-swf Stochastischer Prozess (DE-588)4057630-9 gnd rswk-swf Stochastische Integralgleichung (DE-588)4183374-0 gnd rswk-swf Abfluss (DE-588)4000114-3 gnd rswk-swf Regen (DE-588)4121570-9 gnd rswk-swf Regenwasser (DE-588)4049003-8 s Abfluss (DE-588)4000114-3 s Modell (DE-588)4039798-1 s 1\p DE-604 Regen (DE-588)4121570-9 s Abflussmessung (DE-588)4141034-8 s Stochastische Integralgleichung (DE-588)4183374-0 s 2\p DE-604 3\p DE-604 Stochastischer Prozess (DE-588)4057630-9 s 4\p DE-604 Integralgleichung (DE-588)4027229-1 s 5\p DE-604 Whitley, Robert J. aut Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9783642493119 https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-49309-6 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
