Zusammenfassung: | This booklet is a fresh consideration of German-speaking scholarship on the Dead Sea Scrolls; it divides the scholarship into two phases corresponding with pre- and post 1989 Germany. In the first phase the dominant place given to how the scrolls inform the context of Jesus is analyzed as one of several means through which the study of Judaism was revitalized in post-war Germany. Overall it is argued that the study of the Scrolls has been part of the broader German tradition of the study of antiquity, rather than simply a matter of Biblical Studies. In addition the booklet stresses the many very fine German contributions to the provision of study resources, to the masterly techniques of manuscript reconstruction, to the analysis of the scrolls in relation to the New Testament and Early Judaism, and to the popularization of scholarship for a thirsty public. It concludes that German scholarship has had much that is distinctive in its study of the Dead Sea Scrolls |

Brooke Berlin ; Boston De Gruyter [2018] © 2018 1 online resource (43 pages) txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Julius-Wellhausen-Vorlesung 6 Description based on online resource; title from PDF title page (publisher's Web site, viewed 22. Jun 2018) This booklet is a fresh consideration of German-speaking scholarship on the Dead Sea Scrolls; it divides the scholarship into two phases corresponding with pre- and post 1989 Germany. It concludes that German scholarship has had much that is distinctive in its study of the Dead Sea Scrolls In English Qumrantexte (DE-588)4048098-7 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Dead Sea Scrolls Deutschland Forschung German Scholarship Jewish Manuscripts Jüdische Handschrift Qumran-Schrift Frühjudentum (DE-588)4071487-1 gnd rswk-swf Frühchristentum (DE-588)4129954-1 gnd rswk-swf Forschung (DE-588)4017894-8 gnd rswk-swf Deutsches Sprachgebiet (DE-588)4070370-8 gnd rswk-swf Deutsches Sprachgebiet (DE-588)4070370-8 g Qumrantexte (DE-588)4048098-7 u Frühjudentum (DE-588)4071487-1 s Frühchristentum (DE-588)4129954-1 s Forschung (DE-588)4017894-8 s Geschichte z 1\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9783110595857 https://doi.org/10.1515/9783110597325 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
