SUMMARY
The paper offers a systemic overview of the process of structural analysis of social
representations. It undertakes to gather numerous and various concepts and ideas concer-
ning the objectives, meanings, principles, steps, methods and techniques of investigating
what, in the opinion of S. Moscovici — the founder of modern social psychology —, repre-
sents „the theories of common sense”. Approaches are udertaken taking into account the
significant changes occurring lately on the level of psycho-sociological science (the latter
shifting its attention from „the isolated study of the individual or the social” to „the study
focused on identifying and explaining the unrest, the clashes and contradictions of the
social battles”) and that social representations are associated, more and more, with „the
central and common to all social and human sciences element” or — in other terms — to
„the factor that guide us in how to name and delineate the various aspects of our daily re-
ality, in how to interpret them, to decide upon and, when appropriate, to take on a certain
position towards them and defend it”.
