Zusammenfassung: | "Analyzing literary texts and films, White Rebels in Black shows how German authors have since the 1950s appropriated black popular culture, particularly music, to distance themselves from the legacy of Nazi Germany, authoritarianism, and racism, and how such appropriation changes over time. Priscilla Layne offers a critique of how blackness came to symbolize a positive escape from the hegemonic masculinity of postwar Germany, and how black identities have been represented as separate from, and in opposition to, German identity, foreclosing the possibility of being both black and German. Citing four autobiographies published by black German authors Hans Jürgen Massaquo, Theodor Michael, Günter Kaufmann, and Charly Graf, Layne considers how black German men have related to hegemonic masculinity since Nazi Germany, and concludes with a discussion on the work of black German poet, Philipp Khabo Köpsell."...Provided by publisher |

Priscilla Layne offers a critique of how blackness came to symbolize a positive escape from the hegemonic masculinity of postwar Germany, and how black identities have been represented as separate from, and in opposition to, German identity, foreclosing the possibility of being both black and German. Citing four autobiographies published by black German authors Hans Jürgen Massaquo, Theodor Michael, Günter Kaufmann, and Charly Graf, Layne considers how black German men have related to hegemonic masculinity since Nazi Germany, and concludes with a discussion on the work of black German poet, Philipp Khabo Köpsell."...Provided by publisher Geschichte 1950-2017 gnd rswk-swf German literature 20th century History and criticism German literature Black authors History and criticism Blacks in literature Masculinity in literature Blacks in popular culture Germany History 20th century Motion pictures Germany History 20th century Blacks in motion pictures Masculinity in motion pictures Blacks Race identity Germany Whites Race identity Germany Massenkultur Motiv (DE-588)7592632-5 gnd rswk-swf Schwarze Motiv (DE-588)4116434-9 gnd rswk-swf Ethnische Identität Motiv (DE-588)4543530-3 gnd rswk-swf Schwarze (DE-588)4116433-7 gnd rswk-swf Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 gnd rswk-swf Deutsch (DE-588)4113292-0 gnd rswk-swf Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 gnd rswk-swf Kulturleben (DE-588)4126540-3 gnd rswk-swf Unterhaltungsmusik Motiv (DE-588)4750862-0 gnd rswk-swf Film (DE-588)4017102-4 gnd rswk-swf Volkskultur Motiv (DE-588)4188538-7 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4113937-9 Hochschulschrift gnd-content Deutsch (DE-588)4113292-0 s Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 s Film (DE-588)4017102-4 s Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 s Schwarze (DE-588)4116433-7 s Kulturleben (DE-588)4126540-3 s Ethnische Identität Motiv (DE-588)4543530-3 s Geschichte 1950-2017 z DE-604 Volkskultur Motiv (DE-588)4188538-7 s Schwarze Motiv (DE-588)4116434-9 s Unterhaltungsmusik Motiv (DE-588)4750862-0 s Massenkultur Motiv (DE-588)7592632-5 s Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 978-0-472-12383-4 LoC Fremddatenuebernahme application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=030354576&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
