With superb nautical skills the Portuguese navigated uncharted waters and opened
the sea lanes to Asia. A fleet of Portuguese ships sailed from Goa, India, to the
exotic land of Burma, seeking trade. However, their formidable weapons, the muskets and
cannons impressed the kings of Burma which initiated a relationship that spanned more than
a century. Years later, as handsomely paid mercenaries, they became embroiled in the power
struggles of the Burmese kings, and a land divided by ethnic city states.
Paolo Seixas, assigned to train the Mons in weaponry, fails in love with the lovely Mon
princess Ziwa.
Luisa, taken prisoner together with hundreds of Portuguese by King Anaukphetlun,
who had killed her husband Felipe, after the siege of Syriam. She emerges as a leader during
the forced torturous 500 miles march to Ava, fights for justice and the ultimate freedom to
resettle in the land of their own — [.and of the Two Rivers Valiev.

through two of its most memorable characters as they triumph over many adversities to
become part of Burmese history, largely unknown to its modern peoples and the world. |
