Suggestions for
Further Reading
Although numerous works have been published that deal with either the Cold
War or the struggle against imperialism, there are relatively few that seek to
provide a comprehensive global treatment of both. Among them are the books by
Odd Arne Wes tad (The Global Cold War: Third World Interventions and the Making
of Our Times), S. Neil MacFarlane (Superpower Rivalry and Third World Radicalism:
The Idea of National Liberation), David S. Painter (The Cold War: An International His-
tory), Henry Heller (The Cold War and the New Imperialism: A Global History), and
Edward H. Judge and John W. Langdon (A Hard and Bitter Peace; A Global History
of the Cold War) that are listed below under General Works and Sources. Unlike
the current volume, however, these books tend to approach the era mainly from
a Cold War perspective, with the struggle against imperialism incorporated into
that perspective.
