Zusammenfassung: | Between 1289 and 1327 Siena witnessed a series of lavish ceremonial events marking the visits to the city of successive Angevin kings and princes, members of the French dynasty that ruled the whole of southern Italy. The reason for these magnificent civic rituals was Siena?s status as a Guelph city state closely allied both to the papacy and to the kingdom of Naples. Based on extensive new research, including unpublished archival material, Diana Norman explores in detail the nature and extent of this distinctive political and diplomatic relationship and the ways in which it impacted upon the production and dissemination of Sienese art during the first half of the fourteenth century. In so doing, she demonstrates that this relationship not only informed the conception and resolution of a number of major pictorial schemes for key civic sites in Siena itself, but that it also familiarised the Angevin royal family with the quality of contemporary Sienese art. This, in turn, led to the employment of Sienese artists by the Angevins and to the production of significant images that commemorated various members of the dynasty. In this beautifully illustrated book, works of art executed by well-known fourteenth-century artists - including Simone Martini, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, and Tino di Camaino - are examined in a new light, together with other finely crafted objects produced by lesser known artists, all whom contributed to this hitherto over-looked example of late medieval cultural exchange |

In this beautifully illustrated book, works of art executed by well-known fourteenth-century artists - including Simone Martini, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, and Tino di Camaino - are examined in a new light, together with other finely crafted objects produced by lesser known artists, all whom contributed to this hitherto over-looked example of late medieval cultural exchange Ludwig Toulouse, Bischof, Heiliger 1274-1297 (DE-588)118890751 gnd rswk-swf Anjou Familie (DE-588)118834681 gnd rswk-swf Martini, Simone 1280-1344 (DE-588)118731394 gnd rswk-swf Tino di Camaino 1280-1337 (DE-588)119225727 gnd rswk-swf Martini, Simone 1280-1344 Der Heilige Ludwig von Toulouse und sein Bruder Robert von Anjou (DE-588)4717838-3 gnd rswk-swf Lorenzetti, Ambrogio 1290-1348 (DE-588)118780492 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1300-1350 gnd rswk-swf Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 gnd rswk-swf Heiligenverehrung (DE-588)4024052-6 gnd rswk-swf Beziehung (DE-588)4145198-3 gnd rswk-swf Siena (DE-588)4054903-3 gnd rswk-swf Neapel (DE-588)4041476-0 gnd rswk-swf Anjou Familie (DE-588)118834681 p Siena (DE-588)4054903-3 g Beziehung (DE-588)4145198-3 s Geschichte 1300-1350 z DE-604 Neapel (DE-588)4041476-0 g Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 s Martini, Simone 1280-1344 (DE-588)118731394 p Tino di Camaino 1280-1337 (DE-588)119225727 p Lorenzetti, Ambrogio 1290-1348 (DE-588)118780492 p Martini, Simone 1280-1344 Der Heilige Ludwig von Toulouse und sein Bruder Robert von Anjou (DE-588)4717838-3 u Ludwig Toulouse, Bischof, Heiliger 1274-1297 (DE-588)118890751 p Heiligenverehrung (DE-588)4024052-6 s Studies in the visual cultures of the Middle Ages vol. 13 (DE-604)BV035117499 13 https://www.recensio.net/r/aaec033ab7544a33ab5875f44626acf5 rezensiert in: Mitteilungen des Instituts für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung, 128 (2020), 2, S. 442-444 Rezension Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=030266985&sequence=000002&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis KUBIKAT Anreicherung application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=030266985&sequence=000003&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
