Zusammenfassung: | The past twenty years have seen the publication of numerous translations and commentaries on the principal philosophers of the Kyoto School, but so far no general overview and evaluation of their thought has been available, either in Japanese or in Western languages. James Heisig, a longstanding participant in these efforts, has filled that gap with Philosophers of Nothingness. In this extensive study, the ideas of Nishida Kitaro, Tanabe Hajime, and Nishitani Keiji are presented both as a consistent school of thought in its own right and as a challenge to the Western philosophical tradition to open itself to the original contribution of Japan |

Heisig Honolulu University of Hawaii Press [2001] © 2001 1 online resource txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Description based on online resource; title from PDF title page (publisher's Web site, viewed 19. Jan 2018) The past twenty years have seen the publication of numerous translations and commentaries on the principal philosophers of the Kyoto School, but so far no general overview and evaluation of their thought has been available, either in Japanese or in Western languages. James Heisig, a longstanding participant in these efforts, has filled that gap with Philosophers of Nothingness. In this extensive study, the ideas of Nishida Kitaro, Tanabe Hajime, and Nishitani Keiji are presented both as a consistent school of thought in its own right and as a challenge to the Western philosophical tradition to open itself to the original contribution of Japan In English Nishitani, Keiji 1900-1990 (DE-588)118588257 gnd rswk-swf Tanabe, Hajime 1885-1962 (DE-588)118801279 gnd rswk-swf Nishida, Kitarō 1870-1945 (DE-588)118588230 gnd rswk-swf Nothing (Philosophy) Philosophy, Japanese 20th century Philosophie (DE-588)4045791-6 gnd rswk-swf Kyōto-Schule (DE-588)4163894-3 gnd rswk-swf Nishida, Kitarō 1870-1945 (DE-588)118588230 p Philosophie (DE-588)4045791-6 s Tanabe, Hajime 1885-1962 (DE-588)118801279 p 1\p DE-604 Nishitani, Keiji 1900-1990 (DE-588)118588257 p 2\p DE-604 Kyōto-Schule (DE-588)4163894-3 s 3\p DE-604 https://www.degruyter.com/doi/book/10.21313/9780824863944 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
