Zusammenfassung: | For decades, global colonialism and capitalist expansion has been viewed and interpreted as a purely Eurocentric phenomenon beginning in the sixteenth century with the age of exploration. Recent research has pulled the focus from Europe toward China as the first agent of global expansion. This collection will continue to challenge the northern European narrative to include the Chinese, Iberian, and Japanese connections to global transformations and economies. The Asia-Pacific area developed tighter and more cohesive regional trade networks and had a greater impact on local populations in areas such as consumption patterns and artistic creation |
