Zusammenfassung: | Many beautiful illuminated manuscripts survive from the Middle Ages and can be seen in libraries and museums throughout Europe. But who were the skilled craftsmen who made these exquisite books? What precisely is parchment? How were medieval manuscripts designed and executed? What were the inks and pigments, and how were they applied? This book looks at the work of scribes, illuminators and book binders. 0Based principally on examples in the Bodleian Library, this lavishly illustrated account tells the story of manuscript production from the early Middle Ages through to the high Renaissance. Each stage of production is described in detail, from the preparation of the parchment, pens, paints and inks to the writing of the scripts and the final decoration and illumination of the manuscript. This book also explains the role of the stationer or bookshop, often to be found near cathedral and market squares, in the commissioning of manuscripts, and it cites examples of specific scribes and illuminators who can be identified through their work as professional lay artisans.0Christopher de Hamel's text is accompanied by a glossary of key technical terms relating to manuscripts and illumination, providing an invaluable introduction for anyone interested in studying medieval manuscripts today |

This book also explains the role of the stationer or bookshop, often to be found near cathedral and market squares, in the commissioning of manuscripts, and it cites examples of specific scribes and illuminators who can be identified through their work as professional lay artisans.0Christopher de Hamel's text is accompanied by a glossary of key technical terms relating to manuscripts and illumination, providing an invaluable introduction for anyone interested in studying medieval manuscripts today Geschichte 700-1500 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 500-1500 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Tinte (DE-588)4185528-0 gnd rswk-swf Handschrift (DE-588)4023287-6 gnd rswk-swf Pergamenthandschrift (DE-588)4173753-2 gnd rswk-swf Schreibfeder (DE-588)4348438-4 gnd rswk-swf Berufsbild (DE-588)4069340-5 gnd rswk-swf Buchmaler (DE-588)4146822-3 gnd rswk-swf Kunstsoziologie (DE-588)4033673-6 gnd rswk-swf Pergament (DE-588)4173751-9 gnd rswk-swf Illuminierte Handschrift (DE-588)4120472-4 gnd rswk-swf Schreiber (DE-588)4130947-9 gnd rswk-swf Buchmalerei (DE-588)4008650-1 gnd rswk-swf Ausmalung (DE-588)4494528-0 gnd rswk-swf Herstellung (DE-588)4159653-5 gnd rswk-swf Graphische Technik (DE-588)4021850-8 gnd rswk-swf Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 gnd rswk-swf Book industries and trade / Europe / History Illumination of books and manuscripts, Medieval Manuscripts, Medieval Books / History / 400-1450 Books / History / 1450-1600 Handschrift (DE-588)4023287-6 s Herstellung (DE-588)4159653-5 s Geschichte 500-1500 z DE-604 Illuminierte Handschrift (DE-588)4120472-4 s Pergamenthandschrift (DE-588)4173753-2 s Pergament (DE-588)4173751-9 s Tinte (DE-588)4185528-0 s Schreibfeder (DE-588)4348438-4 s Ausmalung (DE-588)4494528-0 s Schreiber (DE-588)4130947-9 s Berufsbild (DE-588)4069340-5 s Geschichte z 1\p DE-604 Kunstsoziologie (DE-588)4033673-6 s Buchmalerei (DE-588)4008650-1 s Geschichte 700-1500 z 2\p DE-604 Graphische Technik (DE-588)4021850-8 s 3\p DE-604 Europa (DE-588)4015701-5 g 4\p DE-604 Buchmaler (DE-588)4146822-3 s 5\p DE-604 Erweiterte Ausgabe von Scribes and illuminators (DE-604)BV007465856 Digitalisierung BSB Muenchen - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=030080385&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
