Zusammenfassung: | "The four parts of this book lay out a logical approach to conceptualizing behavioral health care. The first part comprises three chapters that address the basic conceptual framework needed to place the profession on firm scientific and ethical foundations. Part II includes three chapters that provide an overview of the psychological, sociocultural, and physical functioning of the American general public, followed by a fourth chapter that provides a developmental perspective. These topics are viewed as necessary background for appropriately applying the biopsychosocial approach to behavioral health care. Knowledge of the biopsychosocial circumstances of the public is critical for a holistic understanding of individuals, conducting thorough assessments, and developing treatment plans and delivering interventions that maximize the likelihood of treatment effectiveness. The topics in Part II are also necessary background for understanding the prevention of behavioral health problems, promoting health and well-being, and effectively interacting with other health care and human service professionals, family members, and others who play important roles in patients' lives. The chapters in Part III describe the implications of applying the scientific and ethical foundations of the biopsychosocial approach to the behavioral health care treatment process. The four chapters in this part of the volume address the four general phases of the treatment process, namely, assessment, treatment planning, implementing treatment, and evaluating its effectiveness. Part IV addresses additional implications of taking a science-based biopsychosocial approach to behavioral health care"--Introduction. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2014 APA, all rights reserved) |
