Zusammenfassung: | Cremona violins occupy a unique and storied place in violin history. This book contains a brief account of that history - the rise and fall of the Cremonese art of violin making that dominated over two centuries. It is primarily devoted, however, to the physics behind violin acoustics, specifically the research of William F. "Jack" Fry over the past several decades. The gradual evolution of his ideas leading to a holistic approach is chronicled, in sharp contrast to the conventional "reductionist" analysis. With rare insights, he has come closer than anyone before in reproducing the tonal qualities of the great Italian masters. This historic achievement makes the book extremely valuable for violin makers and violin researchers, enabling young and aspiring violinists to own excellent sounding instruments with the acoustical marvels of the old at affordable prices. The accompanying video features Fry's demonstration of how and why minute changes in thickness graduations make predictable changes in tonal qualities of an instrument |

The accompanying video features Fry's demonstration of how and why minute changes in thickness graduations make predictable changes in tonal qualities of an instrument Fry, Jack Stradivari, Antonio 1644-1737 (DE-588)118618822 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1600-1700 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1950-2010 gnd rswk-swf Violin / Construction / Italy / Cremona Music / Acoustics and physics Klangerzeugung (DE-588)4204777-8 gnd rswk-swf Violine (DE-588)4019791-8 gnd rswk-swf Physik (DE-588)4045956-1 gnd rswk-swf Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 gnd rswk-swf Akustik (DE-588)4000988-9 gnd rswk-swf Klangfarbe (DE-588)4164006-8 gnd rswk-swf Geigenbau (DE-588)4137000-4 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Cremona (DE-588)4010700-0 gnd rswk-swf Stradivari, Antonio 1644-1737 (DE-588)118618822 p Geigenbau (DE-588)4137000-4 s Klangerzeugung (DE-588)4204777-8 s Rezeption (DE-588)4049716-1 s USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Geschichte 1950-2010 z 1\p DE-604 Cremona (DE-588)4010700-0 g Akustik (DE-588)4000988-9 s Physik (DE-588)4045956-1 s Geschichte 1600-1700 z 2\p DE-604 Violine (DE-588)4019791-8 s Klangfarbe (DE-588)4164006-8 s 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9789812791092 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9789812791108 (pbk) Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9812791094 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 9812791108 (pbk) http://www.worldscientific.com/worldscibooks/10.1142/6728#t=toc Verlag URL des Erstveroeffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
