Nonmotor Parkinson s: The Hidden Face
Management and the Hidden Face of Related Disorders
Volume 154
Nonmotor symptoms of Parkinson s disease are integral to the
condition and are present from the prodromal to the palliative
stage. Described by James Parkinson 200 years back, the
nonmotor symptoms of Parkinson s disease have remained
underexplored and underrecognized even though they play a
major role in the quality of life of patients and caregivers. The book
cover is an illustration made by the Ukrainian artist Oleg Shupliak
known for illusory or camouflage painting. The cover hides the
face of the famous Dutch painter Van Gogh and exemplifies how
nonmotor symptoms, a hidden face of Parkinson s disease, could
be the real driver of the manifest symptoms. In addition, the book
also addresses little known aspects of nonmotor symptoms in
parkinsonian disorders and related conditions in two volumes.
Over 40 famous key opinion leaders have contributed to these
two volumes which is likely to be the defining resource on
nonmotor aspects of Parkinson s disease and related disorders
for many years to come. The book also reflects a global reach
addressing the ubiquitous presence of nonmotor symptoms in
Parkinson s disease and parkinsonism and attempts to highlight
the growing need for recognition and management of these
symptoms, currently an unmet need.
