Zusammenfassung: | Rogacheva sheds new light on the complex transition of Soviet society from Stalinism into the post-Stalin era. Using the case study of Chernogolovka, one of dozens of scientific towns built in the USSR under Khrushchev, she explains what motivated scientists to participate in the Soviet project during the Cold War. Rogacheva traces the history of this scientific community from its creation in 1956 through the Brezhnev period to paint a nuanced portrait of the living conditions, political outlook, and mentality of the local scientific intelligentsia. Utilizing new archival materials and an extensive oral history project, this book argues that Soviet scientists were not merely bought off by the Soviet state, but that they bought into the idealism and social optimism of the post-Stalin regime. Many shared the regime's belief in the progressive development of Soviet society on a scientific basis, and embraced their increased autonomy, material privileges and elite status |

Rogacheva Cambridge Cambridge University Press 2017 1 online resource (xi, 211 pages) txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Title from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 11 Aug 2017) Rogacheva sheds new light on the complex transition of Soviet society from Stalinism into the post-Stalin era. Many shared the regime's belief in the progressive development of Soviet society on a scientific basis, and embraced their increased autonomy, material privileges and elite status Kommunističeskaja Partija Sovetskogo Sojuza (DE-588)2016004-5 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1900-2000 Geschichte 1956-1986 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte Scientists / Russia (Federation) / Chernogolovka / History / 20th century Wissenschaftler (DE-588)4066567-7 gnd rswk-swf Wissenschaftspolitik (DE-588)4140181-5 gnd rswk-swf Alltag (DE-588)4001307-8 gnd rswk-swf Privatleben (DE-588)4128729-0 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 gnd rswk-swf Černogolovka (DE-588)4315194-2 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 g Černogolovka (DE-588)4315194-2 g Wissenschaftspolitik (DE-588)4140181-5 s Wissenschaftler (DE-588)4066567-7 s Privatleben (DE-588)4128729-0 s Alltag (DE-588)4001307-8 s 1\p DE-604 Kommunističeskaja Partija Sovetskogo Sojuza (DE-588)2016004-5 b Geschichte 1956-1986 z DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, hardback 978-1-107-19636-0 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, paperback 978-1-316-64726-4 https://doi.org/10.1017/9781108164696 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext HBZ Datenaustausch application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=029909974&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
