Salient Features
• Presents the full range of oral diseases encountered In the tropics
• Fills a long-felt need in dental and medical literature with 70 international experts contributing to 61 chapters

with tropical diseases and their oral manifestations; Section 4 deals with oral and salivary gland neoplastic diseases in the

SR Prabhu is currently Senior Lecturer in Bio-Dental Sciences, School of Dentistry and Health Sciences, Charles Sturt
University, Orange, New South Wales, Australia. He is also an Honorary Associate Professor, University of Queensland
School of Dentistry, Brisbane, Australia, and an Adjunct Visiting Professor, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal
University, Manipal, Karnataka, India. Formerly, he served in dental schools in India, Kenya, Sudan, Australia, Trinidad
and Tobago, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, he also serves as an Examiner for
membership examinations of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
DF Wilson is a Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, School of Dentistry and Health Sciences,
Charles Sturt University, Orange, New South Wales, Australia. He is Former Head of School, School of Dentistry and
Health Sciences, Charles Sturt University. Previously, he held academic posts at the International Medical University,
Malaysia; United Arab Emirates; Saudi Arabia; Australia (University of Adelaide) and Canada.
DK Daftary practices clinical oral medicine in Mumbai, and serves on the advisory panel of the MGM Dental College
and Hospital, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Formerly, he held the post of Professor, Nair Hospital Dental
College and Hospital, Mumbai, and was a Consultant, Basic Dental Research Unit, Tata Institute of Fundamental
Research, Mumbai. He is one of the earliest oral cancer researchers in India and was recipient of several international
research grants and accolades. He has published extensively on oral potentially malignant disorders and oral cancer in
the international journals.
NW Johnson is currently Emeritus Professor, King s College, London and Griffith Institute for Educational Research,
Griffith University, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, where he has served as Head of Department and Foundation
Dean, He holds honorary appointments in several other universities across the globe. He has been researching and
teaching oral/head and neck cancer for over half a century in all continents covering epidemiology, risk factors,
diagnostics and treatment outcomes. He practices clinical oral medicine and histopathology. Honors include
Companion of St Michael and St George from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences
and Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association of Dental Research.
