Zusammenfassung: | The first solo exhibition in Mexico of the work of influential artist and activist Gustav Metzger, We Must Become Idealists or Die. Gustav Metzger features works from 1959 to the present. Cornerstones of the exhibition include his manifestos from 1959 to 1969, the Destruction in Art Symposium of 1966 and his Three Years Without Art 1977–1980. These projects are a fundamental starting point for introducing the artist’s concerns with urgent issues including social inequality, nuclear weapons and environmental degradation. In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum presents a symposium on extinction on October 3. |
