There has been a significant increase
in the focus on sex offending in recent
years. From heightened media attention
on sex crimes to new waves oí legisla-
tion aimed at crime prevention, issues
related to sexual assault, harassment,
and sexual violence have become a top
priority írx Western countries. However,
to truly understand sexual offending,
one needs to recognize that two different
discourses currently opérate in relation to
