Zusammenfassung: | This book provides a concise but broad overview of the engineering, science and flight history of planetary landers and atmospheric entry probes designed to explore the atmospheres and surfaces of other planets. It covers engineering aspects specific to such vehicles which are not usually treated in traditional spacecraft engineering texts. Examples are drawn from over thirty different lander and entry probe designs that have been used for lunar and planetary missions since the early 1960s. The authors provide detailed illustrations of many vehicle designs from different international space programs, and give basic information on their missions and payloads, irrespective of the mission's success or failure. Several missions are discussed in more detail to demonstrate the broad range of the challenges involved and the solutions implemented. This will form an important reference for professionals, academic researchers and graduate students involved in planetary science, aerospace engineering and space mission development |

This will form an important reference for professionals, academic researchers and graduate students involved in planetary science, aerospace engineering and space mission development Roving vehicles (Astronautics) Space probes Space vehicles / Design and construction Space vehicles / Control systems Planets / Exploration Planet (DE-588)4046212-2 gnd rswk-swf Raumsonde (DE-588)4135573-8 gnd rswk-swf Erforschung (DE-588)4152745-8 gnd rswk-swf Planetologie (DE-588)4233970-4 gnd rswk-swf Planet (DE-588)4046212-2 s Erforschung (DE-588)4152745-8 s Raumsonde (DE-588)4135573-8 s 1\p DE-604 Planetologie (DE-588)4233970-4 s 2\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-12958-9 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-82002-8 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511536052 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
