Zusammenfassung: | Studies of brain evolution have moved rapidly in recent years, building on the pioneering research of Harry J. Jerison. This book provides reviews of primate (including human) brain evolution. The book is divided into two sections, the first gives new perspectives on the developmental, physiological, dietary and behavioural correlates of brain enlargement. It has long been recognized, however, that brains do not merely enlarge globally as they evolve, but that their cortical and internal organization also changes in a process known as reorganization. Species-specific adaptations therefore have neurological substrates that depend on more than just overall brain size. The second section explores these neurological underpinnings for the senses, adaptations and cognitive abilities that are important for primates. With a prologue by Stephen J. Gould and an epilogue by Harry J. Jerison, this is an important reference work for all those working on brain evolution in primates |

Bookstein, Hermann Prossinger, Dean Falk, Glenn Conroy -- Epilogue: the study of primate brain evolution. Where do we go from here? / Harry J. Jerison Studies of brain evolution have moved rapidly in recent years, building on the pioneering research of Harry J. Jerison, this is an important reference work for all those working on brain evolution in primates Cerebral cortex / Anatomy Cerebral cortex / Evolution Neuroanatomie (DE-588)4171577-9 gnd rswk-swf Evolution (DE-588)4071050-6 gnd rswk-swf Großhirnrinde (DE-588)4072114-0 gnd rswk-swf Primaten (DE-588)4047256-5 gnd rswk-swf Anatomie (DE-588)4001895-7 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Primaten (DE-588)4047256-5 s Großhirnrinde (DE-588)4072114-0 s Neuroanatomie (DE-588)4171577-9 s 2\p DE-604 Evolution (DE-588)4071050-6 s 3\p DE-604 Anatomie (DE-588)4001895-7 s 4\p DE-604 Falk, Dean edt Gibson, Kathleen Rita edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-08995-1 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-64271-2 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511897085 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
