Zusammenfassung: | Similarity and analogy are fundamental in human cognition. They are crucial for recognition and classification, and have been associated with scientific discovery and creativity. Successful learning is generally less dependent on the memorization of isolated facts and abstract rules than it is on the ability to identify relevant bodies of knowledge already stored as the starting point for new learning. Similarity and analogy play an important role in this process - a role that in recent years has received much attention from cognitive scientists. Any adequate understanding of similarity and analogy requires the integration of theory and data from diverse domains. This interdisciplinary volume explores current developments in research and theory from psychological, computational, and educational perspectives, and considers their implications for learning and instruction. Well-known cognitive scientists examine the psychological processes involved in reasoning by similarity and analogy, the computational problems encountered in simulating analogical processing in problem solving, and the conditions promoting the application of analogical reasoning in everyday situations |

Spiro [and others] Comments on part III : the activation and acquisition of knowledge / William F. Brewer Afterword: comments on parts I, II, and III : a framework for a theory of comparison and mapping / Allan Collins and Mark Burstein Similarity and analogy are fundamental in human cognition. Well-known cognitive scientists examine the psychological processes involved in reasoning by similarity and analogy, the computational problems encountered in simulating analogical processing in problem solving, and the conditions promoting the application of analogical reasoning in everyday situations Comparison (Psychology) / Congresses Similarity (Psychology) / Congresses Analogy / Congresses Reasoning (Psychology) / Congresses Learning, Psychology of / Congresses Lernen (DE-588)4035408-8 gnd rswk-swf Analogie (DE-588)4197814-6 gnd rswk-swf Denken (DE-588)4011450-8 gnd rswk-swf Ähnlichkeit (DE-588)4202994-6 gnd rswk-swf Psychologie (DE-588)4047704-6 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift gnd-content Ähnlichkeit (DE-588)4202994-6 s Analogie (DE-588)4197814-6 s Denken (DE-588)4011450-8 s 1\p DE-604 Lernen (DE-588)4035408-8 s 2\p DE-604 Psychologie (DE-588)4047704-6 s 3\p DE-604 4\p DE-604 Vosniadou, Stella 1946- (DE-588)1021936219 edt Ortony, Andrew 1942- (DE-588)172295718 edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-36295-5 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-38935-8 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511529863 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
