Zusammenfassung: | Exploring the role of fire in each of the five Mediterranean-type climate ecosystems, this book offers a unique view of the evolution of fire-adapted traits and the role of fire in shaping Earth's ecosystems. Analyzing these geographically separate but ecologically convergent ecosystems provides key tools for understanding fire regime diversity and its role in the assembly and evolutionary convergence of ecosystems. Topics covered include regional patterns, the ecological role of wildfires, the evolution of species within those systems, and the ways in which societies have adapted to living in fire-prone environments. Outlining complex processes clearly and methodically, the discussion challenges the belief that climate and soils alone can explain the global distribution and assembly of plant communities. An ideal research tool for graduates and researchers, this study provides valuable insights into fire management and the requirements for regionally tailored approaches to fire management across the globe |

Comparative Ecology, Evolution and Management: 9. Fire-adaptive trait evolution; 10. Fire and the origins of Mediterranean-type vegetation; 11. Plant diversity and fire; 12. Alien species and fire; 13. Fire management of Mediterranean landscapes; 14. Climate, fire and geology in the convergence of Mediterranean-type climate ecosystems Exploring the role of fire in each of the five Mediterranean-type climate ecosystems, this book offers a unique view of the evolution of fire-adapted traits and the role of fire in shaping Earth's ecosystems. An ideal research tool for graduates and researchers, this study provides valuable insights into fire management and the requirements for regionally tailored approaches to fire management across the globe Fire ecology Mediterranean-type ecosystems Plants / Effect of fires on Flächenbrand (DE-588)4486782-7 gnd rswk-swf Naturgefahr (DE-588)4123823-0 gnd rswk-swf Umweltveränderung (DE-588)4304982-5 gnd rswk-swf Landschaftsökologie (DE-588)4034352-2 gnd rswk-swf Feuerökologie (DE-588)4638558-7 gnd rswk-swf Naturschutz (DE-588)4115348-0 gnd rswk-swf Brand (DE-588)4133754-2 gnd rswk-swf Ökosystem (DE-588)4043216-6 gnd rswk-swf Brandschutz (DE-588)4007974-0 gnd rswk-swf Feuer (DE-588)4016969-8 gnd rswk-swf Mittelmeerraum (DE-588)4074900-9 gnd rswk-swf Kapprovinz (DE-588)4073220-4 gnd rswk-swf South Australia (DE-588)4078016-8 gnd rswk-swf Kalifornien (DE-588)4029307-5 gnd rswk-swf Zentralchile (DE-588)4067613-4 gnd rswk-swf Mittelmeerraum (DE-588)4074900-9 g Kalifornien (DE-588)4029307-5 g Zentralchile (DE-588)4067613-4 g Kapprovinz (DE-588)4073220-4 g South Australia (DE-588)4078016-8 g Ökosystem (DE-588)4043216-6 s Flächenbrand (DE-588)4486782-7 s Feuerökologie (DE-588)4638558-7 s 1\p DE-604 Feuer (DE-588)4016969-8 s Brand (DE-588)4133754-2 s Naturgefahr (DE-588)4123823-0 s Brandschutz (DE-588)4007974-0 s Naturschutz (DE-588)4115348-0 s 2\p DE-604 Landschaftsökologie (DE-588)4034352-2 s Umweltveränderung (DE-588)4304982-5 s 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-82491-0 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9781139033091 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
