Zusammenfassung: | Many physical anthropologists study populations using data that come primarily from the historical record. For this volume's authors, the classic anthropological 'field' is not the glamour of an exotic locale, but the sometimes tedium of the dusty back rooms of libraries, archives and museum collections. This book tells of the way in which archival data inform anthropological questions about human biology and health. The authors present a diverse array of human biological evidence from a variety of sources including the archaeological record, medical collections, church records, contemporary health and growth data and genetic information from the descendants of historical populations. The papers demonstrate how the analysis of historical documents expands the horizons of research in human biology, extends the longitudinal analysis of microevolutionary and social processes into the present and enhances our understanding of the human condition |

Hoppa -- Archival research in physical anthropology / Malcolm T. Smith Many physical anthropologists study populations using data that come primarily from the historical record. The papers demonstrate how the analysis of historical documents expands the horizons of research in human biology, extends the longitudinal analysis of microevolutionary and social processes into the present and enhances our understanding of the human condition Medical anthropology / Archival resources / Congresses Physical anthropology / Archival resources / Congresses Archiv (DE-588)4002859-8 gnd rswk-swf Humanbiologie (DE-588)4160775-2 gnd rswk-swf Gesundheit (DE-588)4020754-7 gnd rswk-swf Ernährung (DE-588)4015332-0 gnd rswk-swf Humangenetik (DE-588)4072653-8 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift gnd-content Humanbiologie (DE-588)4160775-2 s Ernährung (DE-588)4015332-0 s Archiv (DE-588)4002859-8 s 1\p DE-604 Humangenetik (DE-588)4072653-8 s 2\p DE-604 Gesundheit (DE-588)4020754-7 s 3\p DE-604 Herring, Ann 1951- edt Swedlund, Alan C. edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-02011-4 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-80104-1 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511542534 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
