Zusammenfassung: | Since the 1980s, a renewed understanding of molecular development has afforded an unprecedented level of knowledge of the mechanisms by which phenotype in animals and plants has evolved. In this volume, top scientists in these fields provide perspectives on how molecular data in biology help to elucidate key questions in estimating paleontological divergence and in understanding the mechanisms behind phenotypic evolution. Paleobiological questions such as genome size, digit homologies, genetic control cascades behind phenotype, estimates of vertebrate divergence dates, and rates of morphological evolution are addressed, with a special emphasis on how molecular biology can inform paleontology, directly and indirectly, to better understand life's past. Highlighting a significant shift towards interdisciplinary collaboration, this is a valuable resource for students and researchers interested in the integration of organismal and molecular biology |

Richardson Since the 1980s, a renewed understanding of molecular development has afforded an unprecedented level of knowledge of the mechanisms by which phenotype in animals and plants has evolved. Highlighting a significant shift towards interdisciplinary collaboration, this is a valuable resource for students and researchers interested in the integration of organismal and molecular biology Evolutionary paleobiology Paleobiology / Methodology Morphology (Animals) Morphogenesis Molecular biology Paläobiologie (DE-588)4173106-2 gnd rswk-swf Fossil (DE-588)4017999-0 gnd rswk-swf Molekulargenetik (DE-588)4039987-4 gnd rswk-swf Paläontologie (DE-588)4044375-9 gnd rswk-swf Morphologie Biologie (DE-588)4407742-7 gnd rswk-swf Evolutionsbiologie (DE-588)4153283-1 gnd rswk-swf Evolution (DE-588)4071050-6 gnd rswk-swf Molekularbiologie (DE-588)4039983-7 gnd rswk-swf Phylogenetische Systematik (DE-588)4174592-9 gnd rswk-swf Paläobiologie (DE-588)4173106-2 s Evolutionsbiologie (DE-588)4153283-1 s Fossil (DE-588)4017999-0 s Evolution (DE-588)4071050-6 s Molekularbiologie (DE-588)4039983-7 s 1\p DE-604 Paläontologie (DE-588)4044375-9 s Molekulargenetik (DE-588)4039987-4 s Morphologie Biologie (DE-588)4407742-7 s Phylogenetische Systematik (DE-588)4174592-9 s 2\p DE-604 Asher, Robert J. edt Müller, Johannes 1973- edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-17676-7 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-1-107-00326-2 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511760174 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
