Zusammenfassung: | In this book Robert R. Clewis shows how certain crucial concepts in Kant's aesthetics and practical philosophy - the sublime, enthusiasm, freedom, empirical and intellectual interests, the idea of a republic - fit together and deepen our understanding of Kant's philosophy. He examines the ways in which different kinds of sublimity reveal freedom and indirectly contribute to morality, and discusses how Kant's account of natural sublimity suggests that we have an indirect duty with regard to nature. Unlike many other studies of these themes, this book examines both the pre-Critical Observations and the remarks that Kant wrote in his copy of the Observations. Finally, Clewis takes seriously Kant's claim that enthusiasm is aesthetically sublime, and shows how this clarifies Kant's views of the French Revolution. His book will appeal to all who are interested in Kant's philosophy |

His book will appeal to all who are interested in Kant's philosophy Kant, Immanuel / 1724-1804 Kant, Immanuel 1724-1804 (DE-588)118559796 gnd rswk-swf Kant, Immanuel 1724-1804 Beobachtungen über das Gefühl des Schönen und Erhabenen (DE-588)4700370-4 gnd rswk-swf Moral (DE-588)4040222-8 gnd rswk-swf Praktische Philosophie (DE-588)4047055-6 gnd rswk-swf Enthusiasmus (DE-588)4152356-8 gnd rswk-swf Ästhetik (DE-588)4000626-8 gnd rswk-swf Das Erhabene (DE-588)4148823-4 gnd rswk-swf Kant, Immanuel 1724-1804 (DE-588)118559796 p Ästhetik (DE-588)4000626-8 s Das Erhabene (DE-588)4148823-4 s Praktische Philosophie (DE-588)4047055-6 s 1\p DE-604 Kant, Immanuel 1724-1804 Beobachtungen über das Gefühl des Schönen und Erhabenen (DE-588)4700370-4 u Enthusiasmus (DE-588)4152356-8 s Moral (DE-588)4040222-8 s 2\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-51668-6 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-1-107-55926-4 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511576492 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
