Zusammenfassung: | Making use of newly available archive material, this book provides the first systematic and accessible overview of church state relations in the Soviet Union. John Anderson explores the shaping of Soviet religious policy from the death of Stalin until the collapse of communism, and considers the place of religion in the post-Soviet future. The book discusses the motivations of Khrushchev's renewed assault on religion, the Brezhnev leadership's response to the election of a Polish Pope and the perceived revitalisation of Islam, the factors underlying Gorbachev's liberalisation of religious policy, and the problems in this area facing the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union. This study will be of interest to students and scholars of Soviet and post-Soviet studies, religious history, and the politics of church state relations |

Gorbachev and the liberalisation of religious policy -- 7. Religion, state and politics into the 1990s -- 8. Conclusion Making use of newly available archive material, this book provides the first systematic and accessible overview of church state relations in the Soviet Union. This study will be of interest to students and scholars of Soviet and post-Soviet studies, religious history, and the politics of church state relations Gemeinschaft Unabhängiger Staaten (DE-588)2128486-6 gnd rswk-swf Politik Religion and state / Soviet Union Religion and state / Former Soviet republics Nachfolgestaaten (DE-588)4328855-8 gnd rswk-swf Religionspolitik (DE-588)4049416-0 gnd rswk-swf Kirche (DE-588)4030702-5 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte (DE-588)4020517-4 gnd rswk-swf Staat (DE-588)4056618-3 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion Soviet Union / Religion Former Soviet republics / Religion Soviet Union / Politics and government / 1945-1991 Former Soviet republics / Politics and government Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 g Nachfolgestaaten (DE-588)4328855-8 s Staat (DE-588)4056618-3 s Kirche (DE-588)4030702-5 s 1\p DE-604 Gemeinschaft Unabhängiger Staaten (DE-588)2128486-6 b 2\p DE-604 Religionspolitik (DE-588)4049416-0 s 3\p DE-604 Geschichte (DE-588)4020517-4 s 4\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-46231-0 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511598838 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
