Zusammenfassung: | What constitutes our number concept? What makes it possible for us to employ numbers the way we do; which mental faculties contribute to our grasp of numbers? What do we share with other species, and what is specific to humans? How does our language faculty come into the picture? This 2003 book addresses these questions and discusses the relationship between numerical thinking and the human language faculty, providing psychological, linguistic and philosophical perspectives on number, its evolution and its development in children. Heike Wiese argues that language as a human faculty plays a crucial role in the emergence of systematic numerical thinking. She characterises number sequences as powerful and highly flexible mental tools that are unique to humans and shows that it is language that enables us to go beyond the perception of numerosity and to develop such mental tools |

She characterises number sequences as powerful and highly flexible mental tools that are unique to humans and shows that it is language that enables us to go beyond the perception of numerosity and to develop such mental tools Grammatik Sprache Grammar, Comparative and general / Numerals Language and languages Psycholinguistics Language acquisition Zahl (DE-588)4067271-2 gnd rswk-swf Kognitive Linguistik (DE-588)4246269-1 gnd rswk-swf Zahlbegriff (DE-588)4079441-6 gnd rswk-swf Numerale (DE-588)4170445-9 gnd rswk-swf Semantik (DE-588)4054490-4 gnd rswk-swf Zahl (DE-588)4067271-2 s Kognitive Linguistik (DE-588)4246269-1 s 1\p DE-604 Numerale (DE-588)4170445-9 s Semantik (DE-588)4054490-4 s 2\p DE-604 Zahlbegriff (DE-588)4079441-6 s 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-10865-2 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-83182-6 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511486562 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
