Zusammenfassung: | Much of the most interesting and controversial work in analyzing democratic institutions over the recent past has its intellectual origins in public choice economics. The political arena provides the analytical framework for the study of human behaviour in markets, and the currency in votes and party competition is a primary mechanism for the implementation of public policy. This book explores the strengths and weaknesses of democratic institutions in a series of essays representing a variety of disciplinary perspectives, which compare the merits of the democratic market with those of more conventional markets. Ultimately, the public choice analysis in these studies leads to a deep-seated political skepticism which must confront the customary unquestioning enthusiasm for democracy. This challenge to its enthusiasts should provoke a more profound understanding of democracy's purposes and, in general, a more refined form of political theorizing |

This challenge to its enthusiasts should provoke a more profound understanding of democracy's purposes and, in general, a more refined form of political theorizing Democracy Theorie (DE-588)4059787-8 gnd rswk-swf Public-Choice-Theorie (DE-588)4233109-2 gnd rswk-swf Wahlverhalten (DE-588)4079009-5 gnd rswk-swf Beeinflussung (DE-588)4005203-5 gnd rswk-swf Demokratie (DE-588)4011413-2 gnd rswk-swf Wahl (DE-588)4064286-0 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Demokratie (DE-588)4011413-2 s Wahl (DE-588)4064286-0 s Beeinflussung (DE-588)4005203-5 s DE-604 Wahlverhalten (DE-588)4079009-5 s Theorie (DE-588)4059787-8 s Public-Choice-Theorie (DE-588)4233109-2 s Brennan, Geoffrey 1944- edt Lomasky, Loren E. edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-02368-9 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-35043-3 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511528156 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
