Zusammenfassung: | This book explores the complex relationship between international trade and poverty reduction through a combination of research papers and contemporary case studies. Written mainly by developing-country authors in consultation with local businesses and communities, the case studies contribute to our understanding of the ways in which low-income communities are dealing with trade as a practical challenge, especially in the Asia-Pacific region where approximately two-thirds of the world's poor live. While making it clear that there is no 'one size fits all' formula, the research and stories highlight a number of necessary preconditions, such as political commitment and cooperation at all levels, if trade is to successfully reduce poverty. Openness to trade, serious commitment to domestic reform, trade-related capacity building, a robust and responsible private sector and access to the markets of developed countries are all identified as powerful tools for building trade-related sustainable development |

Openness to trade, serious commitment to domestic reform, trade-related capacity building, a robust and responsible private sector and access to the markets of developed countries are all identified as powerful tools for building trade-related sustainable development Entwicklungsländer Wirtschaftspolitik Poverty / Asia / Case studies Poverty / Pacific Area / Case studies Armut (DE-588)4002963-3 gnd rswk-swf Außenhandel (DE-588)4003832-4 gnd rswk-swf Asien Pazifischer Raum Asia / Commerce / Case studies Pacific Area / Commerce / Case studies Asia / Economic policy / Case studies Pacific Area / Economic policy / Case studies Developing countries / Economic policy / Case studies Asiatisch-Pazifischer Raum (DE-588)4341196-4 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4522595-3 Fallstudiensammlung gnd-content Asiatisch-Pazifischer Raum (DE-588)4341196-4 g Außenhandel (DE-588)4003832-4 s Armut (DE-588)4002963-3 s 1\p DE-604 Stoler, Andrew L. edt Redden, Jim 1955- edt Jackson, Lee Ann edt World Trade Organization issuing body Sonstige oth Australian Agency for International Development issuing body Sonstige oth University of Adelaide issuing body Institute for International Trade oth Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-74530-7 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-76836-8 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9781139162128 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
