Zusammenfassung: | Since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, questions of identity have dominated the culture not only of Russia, but of all the countries of the former Soviet bloc. This timely collection examines the ways in which cultural activities such as fiction, TV, cinema, architecture and exhibitions have addressed these questions and also describes other cultural flashpoints, from attitudes to language to the use of passports. It discusses definitions of political and cultural nationalism, as well as the myths, institutions and practices that moulded and expressed national identity. From post-Soviet recollections of food shortages to the attempts by officials to control popular religion, it analyses a variety of unexpected and compelling topics to offer fresh insights about this key area of world culture. Illustrated with numerous photographs, it presents the results of recent research in an accessible and lively way |

Illustrated with numerous photographs, it presents the results of recent research in an accessible and lively way Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Nationalismus Popular culture / Russia (Federation) Group identity / Russia (Federation) Nationalism / Russia (Federation) Nationalbewusstsein (DE-588)4041282-9 gnd rswk-swf Kultur (DE-588)4125698-0 gnd rswk-swf Russia (Federation) / Civilization Russland (DE-588)4076899-5 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Sowjetunion (DE-588)4077548-3 g Russland (DE-588)4076899-5 g Nationalbewusstsein (DE-588)4041282-9 s Kultur (DE-588)4125698-0 s Geschichte z DE-604 Bassin, Mark 1953- (DE-588)1026109841 edt Kelly, Catriona 1967- (DE-588)128713283 edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-1-107-01117-5 (DE-604)BV039939969 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511894732 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
