Zusammenfassung: | Negotiations between governments shape the world political economy and in turn the lives of people everywhere. Developing countries have become far more influential in talks in the World Trade Organization, including infamous stalemates in Seattle in 1999 and Cancún in 2003, as well as bilateral and regional talks like those that created NAFTA. Yet social science does not understand well enough the process of negotiation, and least of all the roles of developing countries, in these situations. This 2006 book sheds light on three aspects of this otherwise opaque process: the strategies developing countries use; coalition formation; and how they learn and influence other participants' beliefs. This book will be valuable for many readers interested in negotiation, international political economy, trade, development, global governance, or international law. Developing country negotiators and those who train them will find practical insights on how to avoid pitfalls and negotiate better |

Davis Compliance bargaining in the WTO : Ecuador and the bananas dispute James McCall Smith Negotiations between governments shape the world political economy and in turn the lives of people everywhere. Developing country negotiators and those who train them will find practical insights on how to avoid pitfalls and negotiate better World Trade Organization World Trade Organization (DE-588)2145784-0 gnd rswk-swf North American Free Trade Agreement / (1992 December 17) North American Free Trade Agreement 1994 Januar 1 (DE-588)1253431639 gnd rswk-swf Entwicklungsländer Foreign trade regulation International trade Negotiation in business Handelsvertrag (DE-588)4159016-8 gnd rswk-swf Developing countries / Commerce Entwicklungsländer (DE-588)4014954-7 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Entwicklungsländer (DE-588)4014954-7 g North American Free Trade Agreement 1994 Januar 1 (DE-588)1253431639 u DE-604 World Trade Organization (DE-588)2145784-0 b 2\p DE-604 Handelsvertrag (DE-588)4159016-8 s 3\p DE-604 Odell, John S. 1945- edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-67978-7 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-86178-6 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511491610 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
