Zusammenfassung: | This collection of essays examines the institutional framework in which monetary policy is made. The essays consider two questions: how free is the Fed to set monetary policy and to what extent do organisational problems affect the choice of that monetary policy? Topics covered include the Fed's response to movements on its goals, Congressional and presidential pressures on the Fed, the existence of political business cycles operating through monetary policy, and the extent to which monetary policy may be explained by the Fed's own interests. A final section examines the claim that the Federal Reserve follows counter-cyclical policy and evaluates its performance as a lender to banks both in normal times and as a lender of last resort |

Kane This collection of essays examines the institutional framework in which monetary policy is made. A final section examines the claim that the Federal Reserve follows counter-cyclical policy and evaluates its performance as a lender to banks both in normal times and as a lender of last resort Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (U.S.) Federal Reserve System Board of Governors (DE-588)43408-5 gnd rswk-swf Monetary policy / United States Notenbankpolitik (DE-588)4130528-0 gnd rswk-swf Geldpolitik (DE-588)4019902-2 gnd rswk-swf USA USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Geldpolitik (DE-588)4019902-2 s 2\p DE-604 Federal Reserve System Board of Governors (DE-588)43408-5 b 3\p DE-604 Notenbankpolitik (DE-588)4130528-0 s 4\p DE-604 Mayer, Thomas 1927- edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-36316-7 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-44651-8 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511571947 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
