Zusammenfassung: | In Science and Ethics, Bernard Rollin examines the ideology that denies the relevance of ethics to science. Providing an introduction to basic ethical concepts, he discusses a variety of ethical issues that are relevant to science and how they are ignored, to the detriment of both science and society. These include research on human subjects, animal research, genetic engineering, biotechnology, cloning, xenotransplantation, and stem cell research. Rollin also explores the ideological agnosticism that scientists have displayed regarding subjective experience in humans and animals, and its pernicious effect on pain management. Finally, he articulates the implications of the ideological denial of ethics for the practice of science itself in terms of fraud, plagiarism, and data falsification. In engaging prose and with philosophical sophistication, Rollin cogently argues in favor of making education in ethics part and parcel of scientific training |

In engaging prose and with philosophical sophistication, Rollin cogently argues in favor of making education in ethics part and parcel of scientific training Ethik Medizin Medicine / Research / Moral and ethical aspects Biotechnology / Moral and ethical aspects Genetic engineering / Moral and ethical aspects Human genetics / Moral and ethical aspects Human experimentation in medicine / Moral and ethical aspects Research / Moral and ethical aspects Biotechnologie (DE-588)4069491-4 gnd rswk-swf Angewandte Ethik (DE-588)4307007-3 gnd rswk-swf Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 gnd rswk-swf Naturwissenschaften (DE-588)4041421-8 gnd rswk-swf Biotechnologie (DE-588)4069491-4 s Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 s 1\p DE-604 Naturwissenschaften (DE-588)4041421-8 s 2\p DE-604 Angewandte Ethik (DE-588)4307007-3 s 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-67418-8 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-85754-3 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511617218 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
