Zusammenfassung: | Since the beginning of the nineteenth-century, many forms of theatre have been called 'popular', but in the twentieth-century the term 'popular drama' has taken on definite political overtones, often indicating a repudiation of 'commercial theatre'. Does this mean that political theatre is or tries to be more attractive to more people than commercial theatre? Does it conversely mean that commercial theatre has no political effects? The articles in this book were submitted as papers for a conference on the theme of 'popular' theatre, film and television. Contributions came from people with very different types of experience: from an ex-animal trainer to a lecturer in film studies; from playwrights, directors and actors to professional critics and academics. Each author focused on a particular problem of defining drama in performance, drawing together the conditions of performance, the types of audience and the political effects of the plays or films in question. The result was a series of fruitful connections and juxtapositions that shows the remarkable continuity of the problems raised in attempts to create a popular political drama |

The result was a series of fruitful connections and juxtapositions that shows the remarkable continuity of the problems raised in attempts to create a popular political drama Geschichte 1800-1976 gnd rswk-swf Politik Drama / History and criticism Theater / Political aspects Popular culture Politik Motiv (DE-588)4202544-8 gnd rswk-swf Theater (DE-588)4059702-7 gnd rswk-swf Film (DE-588)4017102-4 gnd rswk-swf Rührstück (DE-588)4268886-3 gnd rswk-swf Fernsehspiel (DE-588)4016843-8 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Politik Motiv (DE-588)4202544-8 s Theater (DE-588)4059702-7 s Geschichte 1800-1976 z 2\p DE-604 Rührstück (DE-588)4268886-3 s 3\p DE-604 Fernsehspiel (DE-588)4016843-8 s 4\p DE-604 Film (DE-588)4017102-4 s 5\p DE-604 Bradby, David 1942-2011 (DE-588)133230457 edt James, Louis 1933- (DE-588)1057492647 edt Sharratt, Bernard edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-0-521-22755-1 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-0-521-28524-7 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511659423 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
