Zusammenfassung: | Modern social sciences have been committed to the improvement of public policy. However, doubts have arisen about the possibility and desirability of a policy-oriented social science. In this book, leading specialists in the field analyse both the development and failings of policy-oriented social science. In contrast to other writings on the subject, this volume presents a distinctively historical and comparative approach. By looking at earlier periods, the contributors demonstrate how policy orientation has been central to the emergence and evolution of the social sciences as a form of professional activity. Case studies of rarely examined societies such as Poland, Brazil and Japan further demonstrate the various ways in which intellectual developments have been shaped by the societal contexts in which they have emerged and how they have taken part in the shaping of these societies |

Carol Hirschon Weiss Social knowledge and public policy : eight models of interaction Björn Wittrock Summing up : social sciences and modern states Carol Hirschon Weiss and Björn Wittrock Modern social sciences have been committed to the improvement of public policy. Case studies of rarely examined societies such as Poland, Brazil and Japan further demonstrate the various ways in which intellectual developments have been shaped by the societal contexts in which they have emerged and how they have taken part in the shaping of these societies Sozialwissenschaften Policy sciences / Research / Case studies Social sciences / Research / Case studies Politikberatung (DE-588)4046515-9 gnd rswk-swf Politische Entscheidung (DE-588)4046531-7 gnd rswk-swf Sozialwissenschaften (DE-588)4055916-6 gnd rswk-swf Politik (DE-588)4046514-7 gnd rswk-swf Politische Wissenschaft (DE-588)4076229-4 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4522595-3 Fallstudiensammlung gnd-content Politik (DE-588)4046514-7 s Sozialwissenschaften (DE-588)4055916-6 s 1\p DE-604 Politikberatung (DE-588)4046515-9 s 2\p DE-604 Politische Wissenschaft (DE-588)4076229-4 s Politische Entscheidung (DE-588)4046531-7 s 3\p DE-604 Wagner, Peter 1956- (DE-588)122181182 edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-06404-0 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-38198-7 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511983993 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
