Zusammenfassung: | Between August 1937 and December 1941, when the Chinese sectors of Shanghai were occupied by the Japanese, terrorist wars broke out between Nationalist secret agents and assassins of the Japanese military authorities. The most intensely disputed area was the western suburb, the Badlands, but warfare was not restricted to that zone. A spate of assassinations, bombings, and machine gun raids took place under the noses of the authorities. Thanks to the release of secret Chinese police files by the CIA, the inner workings of these terrorist groups and their links to the notorious Green Gang can now be exposed for the first time. In so doing, this book also explores the social history of Shanghai's underworld, the worsening relations between the US and Japan before World War II, and the rivalry between leaders Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei during China's War of Resistance |

Dimout -- Epilogue: Outcomes Between August 1937 and December 1941, when the Chinese sectors of Shanghai were occupied by the Japanese, terrorist wars broke out between Nationalist secret agents and assassins of the Japanese military authorities. In so doing, this book also explores the social history of Shanghai's underworld, the worsening relations between the US and Japan before World War II, and the rivalry between leaders Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei during China's War of Resistance Geschichte 1937-1941 gnd rswk-swf Crime / China / Shanghai Secret societies / China / Shanghai Sino-Japanese War, 1937-1945 / China / Shanghai Konflikt (DE-588)4032081-9 gnd rswk-swf Terrorismus (DE-588)4059534-1 gnd rswk-swf Besetzung (DE-588)4006020-2 gnd rswk-swf Verbrechen (DE-588)4062653-2 gnd rswk-swf Japan (DE-588)4028495-5 gnd rswk-swf China (DE-588)4009937-4 gnd rswk-swf Schanghai (DE-588)4052066-3 gnd rswk-swf Schanghai (DE-588)4052066-3 g Besetzung (DE-588)4006020-2 s Japan (DE-588)4028495-5 g Konflikt (DE-588)4032081-9 s China (DE-588)4009937-4 g Geschichte 1937-1941 z 1\p DE-604 Verbrechen (DE-588)4062653-2 s 2\p DE-604 Terrorismus (DE-588)4059534-1 s 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-49744-2 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-52871-9 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511572852 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
