Zusammenfassung: | In Women Writers and National Identity, Stephanie Bird offers a detailed analysis of the twin themes of female identity and national identity in the works of three major twentieth-century German-language women writers. Bird argues for the importance of an understanding of ambiguity, tension and contradiction in the fictional narratives of Ingeborg Bachmann, Anne Duden and Emine Özdamar. She aims to demonstrate how ambiguity is itself central to the development of an understanding of identity and that literary texts are uniquely able to point to the ethical importance of ambiguity through their stylistic complexity. Bird gives close readings of the three writers and draws on feminist theory and psychoanalysis to elucidate the complex nature of individual identity. This book will be of interest to literary and women's studies scholars as well as Germanists |

This book will be of interest to literary and women's studies scholars as well as Germanists Bachmann, Ingeborg / 1926-1973 / Criticism and interpretation Duden, Anne / 1942- / Criticism and interpretation Özdamar, Emine Sevgi / 1946- / Criticism and interpretation Özdamar, Emine Sevgi 1946- (DE-588)119406586 gnd rswk-swf Bachmann, Ingeborg 1926-1973 (DE-588)118505602 gnd rswk-swf Duden, Anne 1942- (DE-588)118922335 gnd rswk-swf German literature / Women authors / History and criticism Identity (Psychology) in literature Identität Motiv (DE-588)4311101-4 gnd rswk-swf Frauenliteratur (DE-588)4113622-6 gnd rswk-swf Deutsch (DE-588)4113292-0 gnd rswk-swf Deutsch (DE-588)4113292-0 s Frauenliteratur (DE-588)4113622-6 s Identität Motiv (DE-588)4311101-4 s 1\p DE-604 Özdamar, Emine Sevgi 1946- (DE-588)119406586 p 2\p DE-604 Bachmann, Ingeborg 1926-1973 (DE-588)118505602 p 3\p DE-604 Duden, Anne 1942- (DE-588)118922335 p 4\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-10988-8 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-82406-4 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511485732 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
