Zusammenfassung: | This collection of essays looks at the origins and expansion of different patterns of breadwinning in both western and non-western history. As a collection it provides new insights into the historical and cross-cultural development of the male breadwinner family and its determinants, and, as such, it provides an important contribution to the ongoing debate on patterns of breadwinning. An important range of factors previously undervalued in the debate are considered: the effects of local labour markets in interaction with family strategies and family values; employers' strategies and the effects of capital accumulation and the rise of international commercial networks; the effects of egalitarian communist ideologies; and the differential ways in which modern welfare states were constructed. The volume calls for a renewed research effort in order to reconstruct the male breadwinner family as the norm and to work towards the integration of different explanatory models |

The volume calls for a renewed research effort in order to reconstruct the male breadwinner family as the norm and to work towards the integration of different explanatory models Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Geschichte Families / Economic aspects / History Working class families / History Heads of households / History Married people / Employment / History Sexual division of labor / History Haushaltsvorstand (DE-588)4234269-7 gnd rswk-swf Familienoberhaupt (DE-588)4294064-3 gnd rswk-swf Mann (DE-588)4037363-0 gnd rswk-swf Geschlechterrolle (DE-588)4071776-8 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte (DE-588)4020517-4 gnd rswk-swf Berufstätigkeit (DE-588)4069349-1 gnd rswk-swf Einkommen (DE-588)4013887-2 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Haushaltsvorstand (DE-588)4234269-7 s Mann (DE-588)4037363-0 s Einkommen (DE-588)4013887-2 s Geschichte (DE-588)4020517-4 s 2\p DE-604 Familienoberhaupt (DE-588)4294064-3 s Berufstätigkeit (DE-588)4069349-1 s Geschlechterrolle (DE-588)4071776-8 s Geschichte z 3\p DE-604 Janssens, Angélique edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-63966-8 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511752216 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
